THE SEAWEED INSTITUTE
Seaweeds of the Lizard
A Lottery funded project that aims to connect people, seaweed and the intertidal space. Through a series of free workshops centred around pressing, eating and sharing we invite you to join us to celebrate local seaweeds.

Join us to learn the craft of seaweed pressing - a Victorian practice that captures the underwater beauty of seaweeds.
Be part of creating a herbarium of local seaweed species from around the Lizard.

We discuss identification, the cultural history and the uses of this abundant resource while tasting its varying flavours.

After laying out your designs we load them into our seaweed presses where they will dry over the next weeks.
Before returning the original pieces to you we will digitalise the pressings to create a collective Seaweeds of the Lizard publication.

We have been awarded Lottery Community Funding to bring you this series of workshops for free.
