Seaweeds of The Lizard

A National Lottery funded project exploring seaweed and its stories on The Lizard penisular.

Through a series of free workshops centred around pressing, eating and sharing we invited people to join us to celebrate local seaweeds.

Inspired by working on The Lizard in the commercial seaweed industry for years and coming across many peoples stories, knowledge and memories, we hoped to document and celebrate these. 

We are still gathering on The Lizard so if you have any stories, photos or opinions about the area and seaweed we’d love to hear them. ​ As part of the project we visited two local primary schools running workshops in the classroom and on the beach. We designed interactive learning tools and games for children to explore their understanding of tides and the intertidal ecosystems.

We are currently compiling the project contributions and hope to share them in 2025.
